About LCP Automotive Components

LCP Engineering Company Limited

LCP Engineering started trading in the 1940s and was formally incorporated as a limited company in 1950.

LCP were the initials of the three founders of the company and in the early days the company did general engineering and manufacturing work for automotive clients from their workshops in Military Road, Canterbury. After a while the company began reconditioning engines and in the 1960s LCP became one of the early car factors, opening branches in Ashford and Maidstone, as well as a specialist engine workshop in Whitstable. At that time components machined by LCP were used in engines racing at Le Mans and the Indy 500.

The 1970s saw new branches in Gillingham and Tunbridge Wells, and 1980 saw the opening of their Brighton branch, their first branch outside of Kent. The company gradually moved into supplying parts for commercial vehicles and rebranded itself as

LCP Automotive Components

Still family owned, LCP is now the pre-eminent commercial motor factor in South East England.
